M O’Brien has continued to integrate advanced safety features into their range of wheeled excavators. This initiative ensures that customers can confidently operate with the latest equipment, adhering to best practice standards.

The fleet now boasts over 150 of the easy-to-use height, and slew systems from Xwatch Safety Solutions, complemented by Human form recognition AI recording cameras from Safety Shield. This combination of safety devices is a proactive response to the growing industry demands for enhanced safety measures.

Dan O’Brien, reflecting on the industry’s stringent safety requirements, stated, “We work in one of the most highly regulated industries with our clients demanding machinery which can be operated safely in all environments. We wanted a system that could give us the safety features both we and our clients wanted whilst being easy for the operators to set up on site. We found this in the Xwatch system.”

The XW4 and XW5 systems from Xwatch demonstrate versatility and user-friendliness. These systems are adaptable to a range of hydraulic plants and are meticulously engineered to ensure precise machine operation. Key features include proportional soft-stop hydraulic valves and a ramped slow-down approach to limits, which together facilitate accurate machine positioning. Operators have the flexibility to set limits manually or by positioning the machine at desired points. Furthermore, the system memorizes settings for automatic activation upon startup.

Dan O’Brien further elaborates on the implementation process, “The systems are installed by our excavator suppliers before the machine’s delivery which makes it easier for us to control. The screen in the cab is simple to understand and set up, making the process very straightforward when it comes to operator training. As a company, we look at the Xwatch products as the benchmark for our machine safety systems.”

M O’Brien’s commitment to integrating advanced safety systems into their fleet demonstrates a responsible approach to operational safety, prioritising the well-being of their operators while maintaining high standards of efficiency and client satisfaction.
